Get The Kick Sound You Want (Plus a Great Tip About Experimenting Freely With Your Mix)!

At the start of this excerpt from a recent Mastermind session*, Gary offers some great tips about how to experiment with a mix and feel totally comfortable knowing that you are not going to mess up your original mix. You can be super creative, with no "grey clouds" holding you back! 

Next, Gary demonstrates what he refers to as a "power plug-in" - Kick 2 (note: Gary has no affliation with the makers of this plug-in). Kick 2 let's the user sculpt the sound of the Kick to their hearts content! Gary is able to replicate reference Kick sounds if he wishes to, or sculpt a perfect new Kick sound using this tool and various techniques he shares in the video. Kick 2 offers an incredible variety of tools to shape the sound of a Kick - pitch, attack, amp, click, etc., etc. 

(Of course, listening to Kick drum sounds on computer speaker isn't always a great audio experience, so you may want to crank it up a little or listen on a system with better bass response).
